Our department was established in 2012-2013 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics is awarded. As "Biologist", they can be employed in various public and private sector organizations, in universities and research institutions. Those interested in scientific Research may continue postgraduate programs at universities.

Specific Admission Requirements
1. The final registration of the university is made between dates determined by Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Candidates who do not complete the registration process between the dates determined by OSYM lose their registration rights. 2. The following requirements apply to enrollment at a university: a. To be a graduate of secondary school; diploma equivalence for graduates of foreign secondary schools is to be approved by the Ministry of National Education. b. To gain the right to enroll in the faculties/colleges of the University in that academic year as a result of placement made by OSYM or to have the points and conditions valid for that academic year in the units where students will be enrolled with pre-registration system, to be successful in the exam. As a result of the 2012-2013 Central Placement Examination, Erzurum Technical University Science Faculty Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Department accepted undergraduate students with MF-3 score. c. To provide the documents for enrollment to the University specified in the examination guide prepared by OSYM. For foreign students, to provide the required documents specified by the Department of Student Affairs.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Students may be accepted from institutions whose equivalance is accepted by Council of Higher Education. Graduates of Vocational Schools who succeed in the vertical transfer examination can also be admitted to continue their education in order to obtain a bachelor's degree. Courses that will be taken by these students are determined by considering the courses they have achieved in the vocational high school that they have previously graduated. The recognition of previous non-formal and formal education in higher education institutions in Turkey is still in its infancy. Erzurum Technical University and therefore the department is no exception to this situation. However, in order to test the English proficiency, exams are held every semester, and by this way previous foreign language education is recognized. Students may be exempt from these courses in the curriculum if they pass the relevant exams.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
As described in the Erzurum Technical University Training and Examination Regulations, students must be successful and pass all courses including graduation project and internship.
Profile of The Programme
Erzurum Technical University Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics aims at educating qualified individuals in genetics field, carrying out researches in field of Molecular Biology and Genetics at international level, serving humanity through researches in genetics field and contributing to our country to take place in the field of genetic studies in international arena.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics can work in different positions in various pharmaceutical, food and medical firms, including medical clinics and laboratories. In addition, new graduates may apply to various research, education and faculty positions at many national and international universities or institutes.
Access to Further Studies
Students who have successfully completed the program can apply to graduate programs in their own field or in related fields.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examinations consist of quizes, midterm exams, final exams, single course exams, additional exams, excuse exams, exemption exams and compensation exams. These exams may be written, oral, or both written and oral and/or practical. Duration of final exams are at least two (2) lesson hours, and duration of mid-term exams are at least one (1) lesson hour. In exams that are conducted as quizes and multiple-choice, blank-filled exams, the duration of the exam is determined by the relevant instructor.
Graduation Requirements
Erzurum Technical University Faculty of Science Molecular Biology and Genetics Department provides graduates with a total credit hour of 150 ± 30 or a European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) equivalent of minimum 240 ECTS, excluding common compulsory courses. Students who completed and passed all courses but whose AGNOs are lower than 2.00 cannot graduate.

Facilities
Our department has one fully equipped student laboratory and two research laboratories. The department has 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 5 assistant professors and 5 research assistants.
