Our department was established in 2014-2015 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Those who have successfully completed the Ph.D. program in Molecular Biology and Genetics will have a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Specific Admission Requirements
1- First Cycle and Second Degree in same or in related disciplines. 2- Acceptable score on ALES (Graduation Education Entrance Examination) or equivalent GRE or GMAT. 3- Acceptable score on Language Proficiency 4- Acceptable weighted score based on the cumulative grade point average gained in first cycle degree, ALES score and the evaluation of related academic unit commiittee 5- Admission is based on the evaluation of the department
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Students who have completed a master's degree in the Molecular Biology and Genetics program are directly accepted to the program when they meet the conditions stated in the regulation.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students are required to complete compulsory and elective courses, to give a seminar on thesis subjects and to present and defend an original work successfully as a thesis in order to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
Profile of The Programme
To provide sufficient knowledge in the field of Molecular Biology, genetics and biotechnology and to educate qualified researchers who aim to contribute to universal knowledge for their country needs. To acquire advanced knowledge and skills for university graduates who have undergraduate degree in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics or Biology in the direction of technology and requirements. This program's interdisciplinary feature will allow students who can come from different undergraduate programs to create a cohesive and strong enough base of education as well as provide opportunities for training for a Ph.D. program in the field of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology and Biotechnology.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates of Molecular Biology and Genetics Ph.D. program can work in different positions in various pharmaceutical, food and medical firms, including medical clinics and laboratories. In addition, new graduates may apply to various research, education and faculty positions at many national and international universities or institutes.
Access to Further Studies
Students who have successfully completed the program can apply to principal investigator positions in their own field or in related fields.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
It is obligatory to attend at least 70% of the courses taken in the M.Sc. programs within the semester. Success is evaluated by measuring midterm (homeworks, midterms) and final examination. These exams may be written, oral, or both written and oral and/or practical. At least one midterm exam is given for each course. Detailed explanations about the measurement and evaluation of the success of the courses are provided on the Course Information Package page.
Graduation Requirements
Third Cycle (Doctoral Degree) is awarded to students who have -successfully completed at least 7 different courses with minimum 21 credits and a seminary, -obtained a total of 240 ECTS credits, -passed a Doctoral Proficiency Test -prepared a Doctoral Thesis' Proposal and passed a Thesis Defence Examination

Facilities
Our department has one fully equipped student laboratory and two research laboratories. The department has 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 5 assistant professors and 5 research assistants.


Program Outputs

Faculty Working Mode
1 To be able to develop knowledge and theory for information about molecular biology and genetics by scientific methods
2 To be able to identify problems in Molecular Biology and genetics, to establish hypotheses for solving problems and to be able to solve hypothesis using various observational and experimental methods
3 To be able to bocome ethical and responsible individuals who are sensitive to social and universal values, who are interested in the fields of Molecular Biology and genetics, who look after the priority areas of the country, produce and contribute to these issues
4 To be able to design a research project in the field of molecular biology and genetics and to evaluate and present the results related to it
5 To be able to search and evaluate scientific databases, especially Molecular Biology and genetics
6 To be able to investigate the phenotypic effects of genes and acquiring the ability to use this effect in animal and plant breeding areas
7 To gain the ability to develop a new scientific method that brings innovation to molecular biology and genetics, or to make a unique study that applies a known method to a field
8 To be able to have enough knowledge to specialize in Molecular Biology and genetics
9 To be able to prepare patent studies to organize national and/or international article/articles or to transfer the results of the works to industrialization
10 To be able to participate in interdisciplinary studies in the fields of education, industry, agriculture, health, environment, energy and biotechnology
